The family tree of Adolf Hitler has long remained one of dark speculation, its roots complicated and murky to historians. Even the Hitler name has been difficult to trace, as some common variances have been Hitler, Hiedler, Hylter, Hittler and Huttler. But new information about the Nazi leader’s bloodline has come to light. The Telegraph reports on evidence that shows Hitler may have had biological links to the very races he tried to wipe out.

What's this?
Belgian journalist Jean-Paul Mulders and historian Marc Vermeeren initiated the search for Hitler’s lineage, taking saliva samples from 39 living relatives, including a first cousin. The samples were analyzed under “stringent laboratory conditions.” Experts found that Hitler’s relatives have a chromosome called Haplogroup E1b1b1.

Haplogroup E1b1b1 is common among Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews, as well as Berbers of Africa’s Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. It is extremely rare among people of Western European descent. Also, a significant proportion of the Afro-Asiatic Jewish population carries E1b1b1. It is considered one of the major founding markers of the Jewish lineage and is carried through the male chromosome.

Ronny Decorte is a genetic specialist at the Catholic University of Leuven. As he told the Telegraph, “This is a surprising result. The affair is fascinating if one compares it with the conception of the world of the Nazis, in which race and blood was central. Hitler's concern over his descent was not unjustified. He was apparently not 'pure' or ‘Aryan’.”

However, the appearance of Haplogroup E1b1b1 is not surprising to some who have studied Hitler’s family tree. As the Telegraph notes, some historians believe that Hitler’s father Alois was the illegitimate offspring of a maid called Maria Schicklgruber and a 19-year-old Jewish man named Leopold Frankenberger. Schicklgruber worked as a housekeeper for a Jewish family in Graz. This issue was the subject of a blackmail letter sent by Hitler’s nephew, William Patrick Hitler, at the height of Hitler’s power.

Historians often note the atmosphere of terror in Hitler’s early family. Alois Schicklgruber changed his name on Jan. 7, 1877. to "Hitler," which Adolf adopted as his only surname. Recently verified journals kept by his sister Paula note the dysfunctional nature of the family. Hitler himself was a noted bully, often slapping his younger sister around “for the good of her education.” Hitler’s father Alois beat his son regularly, at times doing do so over the body of Adolf's protective mother.

The Blueprint

Not a hoax. No. Every anthropologist worth his salt on earth will tell you that the Black Man of Africa is the Original Man of all humanity. The Blueprint.

Absurdity in the findings

Those tests mean nothing in terms of the more than impacting role Hitler played in our time. Case in point: My Y/DNA results returned I1b (the Viking DNA) and I'm a New Yorker of Puerto Rican ancestry who managed to trace his heritage to Dutch pirates out of colonial Curacao. Those results have no bearing on who Hitler was or represented. He was no Jew by any stretch of the mind.

Bad journalism

This is a clear example of bad journalism. Journalists read a line they want to read, which can be distorted and sensational, disregard the rest of the article and publish a totally wrong story. Check out the press release at http://www.familytreedna.com/PDF/FTDNA_Mulders.pdf

e1b1b is 25,000 years old

This haplogroup is 25,0000 years old, originating in east Africa. We all originate from east Africa. All this means is a common ancestry with jews not ancestry from. The Jews and any other religious/ethnic groups did not exist as such 25,000 years ago. The premise of this article is nonsense even if the raw facts are true.

lol

I agree with the second poster. This article is a hoax. There are trying to take the fact that Hitler is a member of a common haplogroup in Jews, which is also common in European populations, and propagate it with the Frankenberger hoax. The whole point of the DNA study was to scientifically disprove the Frankenberger hoax, which was done successfully. It compared the Hiedler lines to Hitler's Long Island relatives.

No group is pure.

No people anywhere on Earth are pure as humans are mobile & have long since intermarried amongst one another. Long before Globalization. Hitler himself knew of his own true ethnic heritage which is why he destroyed his records pertaining to his actual lineage. The Nazi leadership was rife with mixed lineages. The Nazis were trying to recreate the so called "Aryans" not trying to preserve them. A little distinction often missed by historians who analyze the era in question. Ergo why they.... More

This seems to be a hoax

As the previous commenter makes clear, E1B1B is very common - it's not a "Jewish" gene. And as for this - "some historians believe that Hitler’s father Alois was the illegitimate offspring of a maid called Maria Schicklgruber and a 19-year-old Jewish man named Leopold Frankenberger. Schicklgruber worked as a housekeeper for a Jewish family in Graz. This issue was the subject of a blackmail letter sent by Hitler’s nephew William Patrick Hitler at the height of Hitler’s power." - that's a.... More

What subclade?

That is very interesting, but you can't just say he is Jewish because he is a member of E1b1b and that it's common amongst Jews. Is there any other evidence that he is Jewish besides his haplogroup? There are in fact many Germans and Central Europeans who trace their ancestry back to Non-Jewish populations who belong to haplogroup E1b1b. And african? African? Of course he had African roots, thousands of years ago. I can guarantee he has no/very little African in him at the Autosomal level, that.... More

How scientific...

and lacking in knowledge of African E1b1b influx in recent European history in the order of hundreds and recent thousands...not 25k as you would hope or presume.

The E1b1b line and other Mediterranean and African predominated halogroups. It seems your Education left out (as most have) classical African presence in CE Europe as well as medieval Europe...Germany included.

Most of us white folk seem to only feel generally connected to Africans if it is during the period of 200,000 years.... More
